Senior living is preparing for one of the largest cohorts that will be retiring in the next 10 years – these Baby Boomers are often called the silver tsunami. There are ample senior living communities serving the higher income bracket, as well as many options for subsidized housing in lower income brackets. However, the largest (and growing) gap is the middle market where seniors will not be able to afford traditional communities and unable to qualify for subsidized housing. Called the middle market, it is both a challenge and opportunity for providers, developers, and architects.
